I need a 50 inch , 1080p TV, with a high refersh rate for my Xbox room. I don't really care if it's plasma or anything, and I'd like it to be $530 or less if at all possible. Any suggestions?

But why 50"?
Anyway, here’s a Vizio 50" with 1080p and 120 hz refresh rate for $599.97 CAD .

Vizio 50" 120hz are $550 all day on Amazon.
Dell always has lots of deals too, and you usually get $100+ in Dell gift cards as well.

hmmm....the E50-C1 is only 60hz (120 effective rate with whatever software they use) but BestBuys shows it as 120hz (240 effective). Me thinks they have the wrong specs...

if you can find an M-series Vizio, grab it. They're far above the E-series and great for gaming. Just be sure to use HDMI port 5 for your input

Get a 4k, you’ll never have to think about refresh rate statistics again.

$530 is my limit. I don’t need this, it’s just a treat.

Why port 5

It's the media port. Better refresh rate, 1080p @120hz, 4k @ 60hz, HDCP 2.2

Hmm. The M is a bit outside of my prce range. Is the E a good TV ?

The E is good but don’t expect it to be mind blowing. The panels are cheaper (standard LCD vs IPS in most cases), no localized dimming, response rate isn’t as good as the M. That being said, unless you’re hyper-competitive, you shouldn’t notice the response difference. We have a 2014 model 32" E series in the home office; it works well. Just not mind-blowing :)

rtings has a solid review of the D: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/viz…
As the D is lower on the totem than the E, I’d say based on that alone I’d stay away. They say it looks real good when viewed directly but any angle throws the image off. Also localized dimming seems to suck on this model, but that can be turned off
That being said, 13.5 msec response time is quite nice for games. Like, really really nice as far as a TV is concerned. Lower than my M series at 18.5 msec. If you’re using it solely for games / hi-def content, and aren’t needing wide viewing angles, this may not be a bad TV to look at

This is definitely a game TV where I'm sitting 9 feet back straight on.
